Ready to take your smartphone photography to the next level? We'll start with the basics of camera controls, lighting, and composition before heading out to put those skills into action. Teens will learn how to spot interesting subjects, frame eye-catching shots, and use simple techniques that can make everyday photos stand out. After the photo walk, we'll explore editing tools and creative effects that can turn a good image into a great one. Whether you're interested in social media, storytelling, or simply capturing the world around you, you'll leave with new skills and a fresh perspective on the camera in your pocket.

Please bring a fully charged smartphone, your charger, and any photography accessories you'd like to use.

About Peter Glass:

Peter Glass has been a professional photographer in the New England/New York areas for over 25 years, specializing in corporate, editorial, portrait, and stock photography. His photos appear regularly in magazines, advertising brochures, websites, and on book covers. He holds a Master of Arts degree in film and television production from the University of Texas.

In addition, he’s been teaching a variety of photography-related education classes for almost fifteen years. He does this through various towns, libraries, art centers, senior centers, and colleges. He also works with students on a one-to-one and small-group basis and is a photography consultant. The Carnegie Library is located at 201 Avenue A in Turners Falls, MA. 

Getting Here:

Those taking public transit, can reach the Library by taking the FRTA Bus Routes 22, 24, or 32 to the Food City stop or by taking FRTA’s Route 23 to the Ave A and 3rd Street stop.

Accessibility:

The Carnegie Library has one accessible parking space, located on the 7th Street side of the building (to the left side, if you’re facing the front of the building). The Library is accessible by wheelchair ramp, accessed down the driveway off of the 7th Street side of the building. There is an automatic door at the top of the ramp. There is a restroom, but the entrance to it is not ADA compliant.
